about
hello, you. i’m liz. and i’d like to welcome you home.
if i’m honest, i’ve thought about what home means to me my whole life.
i’ve spent many nights gazing up at the moon, amazed by her phases and the fact that all of us see her. the same moon, on the same night, no matter where we are. i’ve wondered about my place in the universe and where i belong in this world. i’ve followed the seasons and the cycles of the earth, learning how nature calls me home. i’ve felt how we are all connected across time and space. i’ve studied theology, mythology, and spirituality, looking deep inside for my own answers to life’s deepest questions. all of this inspiring me to find the rhythms and that ground me and give me a sense of home.
i think i’ve always been thinking about my understanding of home, most likely because i’ve moved so many times, something for which i am eternally grateful. and, as the years have unfolded, moving to different houses, in different cities, and even different countries has taught me that home is, above all, within.
of course, the houses, apartments, cabins, villages, cities, and countries in which we live are all part of our home. they are the spaces where we live our life. they are where we find comfort, inspiration, coziness, and rest. there are the places we make memories and celebrate traditions, where we gather together or spend time alone. we decorate, design, plan, clean, explore, change, grow into, and grow out of these homes.
but, they are all temporary.
i believe that our true home is something deeper. it is a home that gives us a sense of belonging and meaning in the midst of our everyday life.
and that, i have come to understand, is the inner home that i find within my own soul. this is my true home. so no matter where i am, if i am grounded in the rhythms of my life, if i am connected to my soul and to whatever magical, sacred divine energy that flows through us all, then i am home.
because home is so much more than where i live. it’s how i live as well.
notes from home exists as a space to share what home means to me - especially as i navigate and deepen my understanding as home as a woman, feminist, writer dropping deeper with each passing year into her witchy, magical, spiritual self.
this digital space is where i come to document and share how i am coming home to myself by creating a life that is anchored in the belief that each person and each space is a sacred. home is that sacred space that we find within ourselves and it is also spaces in which we live our life. within our walls, within our cities and villages, and wherever else we may wander.
this is a space for slowing down and living in rhythm with the seasons. here, i explore the art of tending the inner life, honoring everyday rituals and magic, living slowly in the city, and sharing gentle, inspiring journeys and travels to other places.
this blog is a quiet invitation to us all - to savor life more deeply, wherever we are.
welcome home, my friend, to the space where i document, curate, and share the rhythms and moments of my life.

I claim with deep pride the different forms and levels of education that I have chosen. While they do not define me, they do speak much to the person that I am - my values, my dreams, my vision for my life and for the world. Everything I have studied, from religion to counseling to psychology to pedagogy to disabilities to history to public speaking and writing sermons and liturgical rhythms has informed and inspired me throughout the years. It has all been a part of the continuous, life-long journey of knowledge and evolution that I seek.
A little about my current life
Currently, I live with my wife and our cat, Bear, in a small, simple apartment built for the working class in 1927. It’s located right in the middle of the bohemian, diverse Södermalm neighborhood of central Stockholm, Sweden where we are surrounded by art, culture, music, and the progressive, alternative pulse of the city right outside our door.
During the week, I work as a school coordinator and mentor at a public high school for teenage dropouts and at-risk students/young adults. It is a humbling and incredible privilege to do this work.
I ground my life by following the rhythms of the seasons and I spend time finding inspiration in all forms of art, travel, nature, food, and drink. And that’s all of the stuff that you’ll see here within the pages of notes from home.
